Tommy Zuko on his song "Winnin and Grinnin"

New release as of 2022

We love to discover new music and are so happy we had a chance to interview this artist. We asked Tommy Zuko a few short questions about his artistry and what to expect next. Here's what he had to say..

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly tell us about yours?

"I grew up a military brat moving all over the east coast, learning to adapt and make new friends has always been a part of my upbringing. I fell in love with music at a young age being that it was always in the house and From the age of 6 I began writing my own songs. By age 16 I was recording and mixing my own music & at 26/27 I gave my music to the Lord."..

Please tell us about your art. What do you do / make / create? How? Why? What’s the message or inspiration, what do you hope people take away from it? What should we know about your artwork?

"I make Christian Hip Hop/R&B music. I produce, write, record, mix and master all of my music in my home studio. I began making music simply because it was fun and I liked hearing my voice over a beat. Now, I still make music because its fun but I have a greater purpose with my voice and gifting. I make music that glorifies God and how he's impacted my life. I'm hoping that my message resonates with those that know God but also can reach those that don't have a relationship with God. I feel like my testimony through music and my relatability as someone who hasn't always known God can reach those that need it, uplift them, and show them God's light and love."..

Tell us about your new song “Winnin and Grinnin”. What inspired the lyrics? Who produced it?

"Winnin and Grinnin is the whole attitude! What inspired the song is simply how God is moving in my life. “I ain’t sayin I’m perfect, but I’m being perfected”. The track was produced by myself. I’m trying to make the trunks knock in Jesus name."..

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?

"My music is everywhere music can be found! People can support me by not only listening to the music, but sharing it as well. Sharing is caring."..

When and why did you start playing/making music?

"To be honest, I always loved hip hop. But when I saw Bow Wow rapping with Snoop Dogg I was like woah! I want to do that! From then on I would write raps to known songs, and sometimes I'd write to the instrumentals found on demos and ep's. I got my first 'official" mic on my 16th birthday and recorded on a free daw. Ever since then its been a wrap."..

Tell us a little about your faith journey and how you came to give your life to Jesus?

"My father told me somewhat of who God is but I never knew I could have a relationship with him. I knew about Jesus but I didn't know him personally. Around 24 I had a feeling that kept lingering and a voice telling me to get baptized but I shrugged it off thinking I wasn't good enough to do so. I decided to take that plunge and give my life to the Lord when I was invited to go to church by my girlfriend. I heard a voice as clear as my own tell me "it's time". Jan 5th 2020 I made the best decision of my life and got baptized. Now I am a leader in my Church, I do the sound/mixing for the worship and preaching. I've even preached my own message to the congregation. Thank you JESUS!"..

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?

"Dude! Ive been a host at a restaurant, cashier at a dry cleaners (Shout out Paid in Full), I was a janitor at a coal plant and I've worked at so many warehouses I don't need training when I go in. I don't even want to SEE a pallet jack lol."..

How do you balance your music with other obligations - significant other, children, job etc.? Are you full time music?

"Somedays you need an entire day to work on music but you also need to go outside and experience life to inspire it. I think of bars everyday since I was a teen so its 2nd nature to me. I'm not full time music yet, so there are some days when I can to go to work, hang with my lady, work out, get alone time with God and work on music in the same day. How do I balance it, passion. I'm passionate and inspired to keep going."..

What advice would you give up and coming independent artists?

"Realize that you are going to have to invest in yourself with your time and resources. YouTube is your friend when it comes to everything indie artist USE IT. Find your voice and the only way to do that is trial and error."..

Are you planning on staying independent as an artist? What's the next move?

"Independent right now is the move for me, but I'm not opposed to signing as long as everything is proper. The next move is always keep going."

What can we expect next from you?

"What’s next? more music, more videos, more vibes, abundance! Kingdom talk! The next single is the title track off my House Shoes Project. The single is set to release July 8th, 2022. And we’re just gonna keep going from there!"..
